Matt Teeman, director of advertising sales at BBC Magazines, will take over from Bauer Media's Paul Keenan as chairman of the Periodical Publishers' Association (PPA) marketing board.
Teeman joined the BBC in 1993 as senior sales executive, Radio Times, and became deputy advertisement manager in 1997. In 1999 he was appointed commercial manager, Beeb.com and in 2002, group advertising director, BBC Magazines. He has also worked in sales at IPC and Mirror Group Newspapers.
Teeman already sits on the PPA marketing board and sees the appointment as a natural progression. “I’ve been on the PPA board for three years already and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on the strategy as part of a team,” says Teeman. “Once the chairman position presented itself, I was naturally excited at taking the opportunity.”
Teeman will be working primarily with PPA chief executive Jonathan Sheppard and chief operating officer Sarah Tunstall. “My main focus will be to agree and execute a marketing strategy for PPA that will bring the organisation forward despite the difficult economic backdrop,” says Teeman.
Commenting on his successor, Paul Keenan says: "I am pleased that the vital work that PPA does advocating and championing the magazine medium and its brands will continue through Teeman. I am sure his enthusiasm, knowledge and experience will further advance our arguments in favour of this most compelling and effective advertising medium.”
