Match.com appoints new marketing director

11 February 2009

The online dating site Match.com has hired Karl Gregory as UK marketing director.

Gregory has previous experience working within online marketing. He joins Match.com from iProfile, where he was marketing director, developing and executing the launch of iProfile’s online CV template service. Gregory’s immediate responsibilities will be building and implementing strategies to boost membership, revenue growth and brand development. He will also take charge of business development.

“Match.com is an innovative company with a strong, instantly recognisable brand that has successfully made online dating synonymous with finding love,” says Gregory. “Taking the brand forward at such an exciting time for the category is a very attractive opportunity to me.

Prior to his work at iProfile, Gregory was head of marketing at Yahoo UK Search and led the re-brand and re-launch of AltaVista across Europe as marketing director.

match.com launched in 1995 and has 15 million users throughout the world. Last January the company saw a 26 per cent increase in membership compared with the same month in 2008.
