Facebook's appeal to a younger demographic has meant the
alcohol industry's use of the social networking site for marketing has
caused raised eyebrows among critics. Meanwhile Bacardi, Pernod Ricard
and Diageo have joined forces for self-regulation to pre-empt
legislation on responsible marketing practices in social media.
Andy Fennell, Diageo's chief marketing officer, spoke
with TM's Muireann Bolger about the ethics and challenges of marketing
alcohol. The company's recent deal with Facebook to increase activity on
