In London, the agony of unrequited cab hailing has been addressed with the launch of a new app called Hailo. The app locates registered taxis in the user’s vicinity through GPS, and notifies drivers who can then accept the fare and collect their customer. But for air travellers, finding the cabbie or family member meeting you at the airport needn’t be a question of fumbling for your phone: a new vending machine at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam will print you a customised welcome banner for just a few euros.
