Crowding in

Crowd power has never been stronger in creative industries such as music and publishing. Visitors to indie rock band The Kaiser Chiefs’ website can create individual, customised versions of their new album, The Future is Medieval, and can earn £1 for each copy they sell. On book publisher Unbound’s site, agent-recommended authors pitch their ideas to generate financial support from readers. If the target is achieved, the author begins writing. If not, supporters get their pledge back or support another Unbound project.
