Perhaps the government needn’t worry about retirement age – we’re staying on anyway. More than 20 per cent of men and 15 per cent of women aged 65-69 in the UK are “economically active”, working at least one hour per week or actively looking for work. And 35 per cent of women aged 60-64 remain in the workforce. A survey reveals that most workers in the UK do not fully relax at weekends until 12.38pm on Saturday, and then start worrying about work again by 3.55pm on Sunday. Almost 50 per cent of workers check work e-mails over the weekend, and 60 per cent work at home over the weekend to catch up – 40 per cent said they “would never get their work done” if they didn’t.
