A slow burn

Daily deal sites are a great way for businesses to get consumers’ attention, but questions remain as to how profitable featuring on sites such as Groupon really is (5 reasons to go with the crowd). Many customers take advantage of discounts during busy times, which means that enterprises lose out on full paying customers. ThinkNear is a new service that seeks to improve on the business model by offering discounts only during slow periods. Businesses tell the service about their lulls and the discounts they can offer at these times. ThinkNear monitors other factors that can cause these slowdowns, such as snow and rain. to the mobile phones of consumers in the vicinity.
