The Marketer Top Table Marketing Leaders' Dinner: a social media masterclass
A handpicked group of chief marketing officers from leading global companies gathered on 30 November in London to hear a masterclass on social media marketing and return on investment, hosted by The Marketer.
The Marketer Top Table Marketing Leaders' Dinner was staged to discuss themes and issues arising from the recent IBM Global CMO Study.
The study revealed that more than three-quarters of CMOs in the UK and Ireland plan to increase their use of social media, yet almost all of them feel underprepared.
To help senior marketers to explore the issues around engaging with customers online, guest speaker Selina Sykes, senior brand manager, Unilever, delivered a presentation offering evidence of tangible ROI through social media activity.
Sykes talked dinner guests through campaigns run by the deodorant brand Lynx across Facebook and YouTube and outlined examples of social media good practice from other brands.
Marketers also heard from Caroline Taylor, vice-president of marketing and communications, IBM UK and Ireland, who addressed the findings of the CMO study and revealed to guests how IBM used social media to support a recent industry summit.
