Since the Institute last published a paper on law, several new laws and regulations directly affecting marketers have appeared. However, there’s a concerning lack of knowledge of these laws amongst practising marketing professionals.
Eighty seven per cent of marketers surveyed in the last set of the Institute’s Marketing Trends Survey1, in association with Ipsos MORI, admitted to poor or non-existent knowledge about the CAP and BCAP Codes, and similar numbers admitted ignorance about other key Regulations and Acts. The Institute wants to see anyone who considers themselves a professional to be acting in a professional manner – which means taking the time to develop a good working knowledge of the laws that affect them.
