Tobacco branding

From: Ollie Goboli

Date: February 2010

Subject: Tobacco branding

Having read your Q&A with John Noble (February, p50) I would say it’s all about being responsible. If regulations are crafted responsibly then we’ll have a win-win. It’s the duty of the government to protect the public from themselves and those considered powerful and manipulative. Marketers are gifted at creating needs where there are none, and consumers susceptible to this can and will get sucked in without knowing what’s happening. I’m sure ethical marketers are ok with the laws set to protect the public and their reputation.
